About Ulster University Verify

Numerous password prompts and different credentials required for many of the University systems have created the need for Ulster University to adopt a secure single sign-on authentication process.

Ulster University Verify uses Central Authentication Service (CAS) which creates a secure way for users to access multiple services with a single sign-on.

Single sign on (SSO)

Numerous password prompts and different credentials required for many of the University systems have created the need for Ulster University to adopt a secure single sign-on authentication process.

What is CAS?

CAS stands for "Central Authentication Service" and is the software used at Ulster University to provide Single Sign-On facilities to web applications. CAS was originally developed at Yale University and is now a JA-SIG project.

Username

What username do I use to login?

  • for staff, please enter your staff number: e.g. e123456.
  • for students, please enter your student ID number: e.g. B00345678.
  • for associates, please enter your associate number: e.g. a1234.

Password

What password do I use?

  • for staff and associates, your password is the same as your network (AD) or email password.
  • for students, your password is your network (SD) password. This is the same password you would use to log on to LRC computers.

Forgotten password

If you have forgotten your password, select a new one using the Online Password Changer.

Change password

You can change your password with the Online Password Changer.

Change password

You can logout of SSO by visiting https://login.ulster.ac.uk/logout. Closing your browser will also log you out of SSO.

It is very important that you log out of SSO when you have finished using the computer, particularly if the computer is in a public place. If you don't logout then subsequent users of the computer may be able to access many applications as you, even if they weren't the applications you were using. Completely shutting down your browser by closing all the browser windows is the safest way to ensure everything is logged out.

Be secure

Be wary of any program or web page that asks you for your username and password.

Secure Ulster University web pages that ask you for your username and password will generally have URLs that begin with:

In addition, your browser should visually indicate that you are accessing a secure page.
